thrifting
Today I went thrifting.
One of my favorite things in the whole world to do is shop.
And another one of my favorite things in the whole world to do is buy cool clothes for cheap.
=)
That's why I love thrifting.
Here are today's finds:
(bought at Plato's Closet and Forever 21)
Is my indie-ness shining through a little?

sunday's events
~~~
I was sick this weekend. Again. Every time I get sick (usually in my case with strep or a very bad cold) I say, "Alright, if I can make it three more weeks and not get sick, I will count that as accomplishment." And it really is an accomplishment when I manage that, because more often I don't make it more than a 2 and a half weeks. Call it what you like, lack of vitamins, calcium, exercise...I've given up trying to name the cause. And it seems the docs have, too. They just put me on meds and say "This'll do it."
So yesterday I stayed home from church and had the house to myself for a few hours.
I unenthusiastically watched TV for the majority of that time, then for the rest of the day wandered around aimlessly, stopping now and then to commit myself to some sort of activity.
I came away from the day having
1.) Drawn a funny little man with a Sharpie,
2.) Organized all my my numerous notebooks and binders of loose writings,
3.) And taken a picture of the pretty blooming trees against the shadowy cloud cover outside my window.
Not a bad day. Not a bad day at all.
beautiful mess
My bedroom floor sees a lot of different kinds of messes. This is personally my favorite kind.
A few weeks ago I started a little project and this is what resulted after a half hour of cutting and ripping of paper.
Spring Break!
My Spring break is here! Hopefully more blogging opportunities this week. Thanks for tolerating my non-posting ;)
daffodils
"I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze."
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze."
She'll be coming round the laptop when she comes...
I've come back.
I know I've been gone for a while now.
Life is busy.
The Brain - olson kundig project
"The Brain is a 14,280 cubic-foot cinematic laboratory where the client, a filmmaker, can work out ideas. Physically, that neighborhood birthplace of invention, the garage, provides the conceptual model. The form is essentially a cast-in-place concrete box, intended to be a strong yet neutral background that provides complete flexibility to adapt the space at will. Inserted into the box along the north wall is a steel mezzanine. All interior structures are made using raw, hot-rolled steel sheets."
This bizarre, seemingly too-goo-to-be-true building has made me an immediate fan of Olson Kundig, who I'd never heard of until about 3 minutes ago. I fell in love with the enormous mullion windows, then the wall-climbing shelves of books, and finally the beautiful piano in the center of the sparsely furnished yet awe-inspiring room. There is no hope for me. I will never be satisfied until I, too, have something like this.
sharing, not cheating.
For the convenience of yours truly (who, these days, finds herself incessantly lazy and house-wandering prone) I'm posting pictures other people have already taken as subjects for my posts. What? You say with obvious disdain already in your voice. That's cheating. Well, lets think of it as -- borrowing. Or -- sharing. That's what the photographers of these beautiful (and much more vibrant and good quality, in comparison to my own right now...curse these unimaginative depths of winter) did via Flickr, and that's what I'm doing (with their pictures...) via my blog. Sharing, not cheating :)
So this wonderfully mouth-watering collection of pictures below is what I guess could qualify as an ode to my love of food right now. As will probably be mentioned somewhere in all the following posts for the remainder of this winter, my life is so dull presently that a good portion of my time I spend preparing, eating, looking at, or hungering, for food. Boredom does that to people.
Unfortunately though, the finances at the moment sometimes force my pantry and fridge into an embarrassingly sparse state, so the consuming of food can often be postponed until older brother returns with fast food I can mooch off of (much to his aggravation) or dad returns with random bags of groceries. However, sometimes a girl's just got to eat, despite the only options of a frozen waffle, a yogurt, or a slice of raisin bread.
(And why would I go searching for a collection of photos of frozen waffles, yogurts, and raisin bread? That wouldn't be pretty to look at at all. That's why I picked this one, full of pictures of food that I wish I could be eating. Ta da.)
and remember, sharing, not cheating :)
"Yes, I'm blogging about how I won't pay you."
* * *
So, my brother (who works at Best Buy and right now has more money than all my family members combined) wants to buy Rock Band but insists that I pay $50. We've argued about this for the past 24 hours.
"I don't have any money Gregory. You get paid every day." "Save up. Take a loan from dad. You're paying."
"But -- you want it just as bad as I do! You'll buy it even if I don't pay up, I know you will."
"No! --- well, yes, I'll buy it, but I won't let you play it!" "I'll just play it when you're gone."
"No, cause I'll carry the disk around with me in my back pocket!" "Yeah. Right." The verdict of this situation (a common type between me and my brother) has yet to be reached.
my own little world
When I moved into my new bedroom 7 years ago, it was pink, empty, and big. The bigness has stayed the same. But the pinkness and emptiness is totally gone. We painted my room green about 3 years ago, though looking at couple of places in my room it's hard to tell that, since you can't really see the wall let alone it's color. I like pictures. No, I love pictures. And there's nothing I love more than surrounding myself with pictures and stories and other worlds and places and anything that inspires me. So touring my room, taking a peek at walls plastered with colors and cultures and countries, digging through boxes brimming with exciting book titles and full sketchbooks, sitting at my desk and looking around at all the half-filled notebooks containing story ideas and random song lyrics, know that you're pretty much looking at
Sophia Grace Logan.
I love my room, and have no limits in using it to express myself completely.
